Dorset life

We have just had a lovely week away for half-term and managed to get to Thomas Hardy's cottage this year. It really is pretty, with a lovely cottage garden, although with just three rooms upstairs and three rooms downstairs, it is hard to imagine how life must have been with six members of the family in the house!

I am a few days behind but I have nearly finished this scarf for ISE6. The pattern is the Lace Ribbon scarf from Knitty and once I got used to the pattern it is great to knit (although I went wrong a lot at first). The yarn was hand-dyed for me by Nic and is a silk/cashmere mix. Could this be for you?!...

The wonders of modern technology

I have been coveting one of these since they came out in the UK and when I started my new job I found it increasingly difficult to manage evrything. So, I decided to get one to try to make life run more smoothly. With the aid of my new gadget I can now do the shopping, check my email and keep up with life generally in transit. Fantastic! It has taken ages to get my new toy working - I have has to update Windows on my computer, iTunes and the software that came with the phone but think I have finally cracked it. The marvels of technology are all very well but can be very frustrating! I have been trying to figure out how to blog using it and think I am getting there...

I have finished my beret, which I am very pleased with. The motherlode colourway is so pretty - I just love those colour combinations.

April (snow) showers

We had half a day of snow last month - enough for the children to build a snowman in the back garden. It was the first time there has been enough snow and for them to be old enough to make a snowman on their own, so here he is for posterity:
